The old hotel

AGUA CALIENTE is located in southwestern Maricopa County. During the late 1890's and early 20th Century, this tiny town was a popular resort spa location featuring a natural hot springs. As such, it was a popular hangout of the rich and famous of the time. The hotel was built in the 1890's and contained between 22 and 27 rooms. Unfortunately, the hot springs no longer is there. It has been dried up due to the amount of water used by the local agricultural interests in the area for quite some time now. There are also early historical accounts of the hot springs having been used by the indians in the mid 19th century for their needs as well.

Agua Caliente is located in Maricopa County but only about a half a mile down the road is Yuma County. Unlike the road to Castle Hot Springs, the road to Agua Caliente is paved. The hotel is now closed. There is no parking in the area as the fence line extends to within 3 feet of the road. The land is private property and currently no visitation is allowed to the area. Below are pictures taken in April 2005 of the area around AGUA CALIENTE.
