Unfortunately ALFA Leisure went out of business April 2008
Unfortunately Alfa did not design my 5th Wheel to the heat of Arizona. The skylight lets in quite a lot of light and heat. I wanted to reduce the light factor and the heat inside my coach. The answer was to replace the skylight. I wanted to get a color for the skylight of dark sun glasses. The orginal skylight color was a milky white.
Have you ever tried to replace a SKYLIGHT on your RV? My 5th Wheel is almost 5 years old the old skylight is still useable however trying to take a shower in the summer months can be a very bright experience when trying to wake up. I decided to try to find a replacement that wasn't white. My goal was to find a smoke color at a reasonable price. What my skylight over my shower compartment is a rectangle white plastic dome fastened to the roof with screws which are covered with the white self leveling caulk. The offical size from the 5th Wheel manufacturer is 25.5in X 33.5in. I found several high price alternatives costing up to $600. This was too high of a price so I called ALFA the manufacturer of my 5th Wheel. They had a replacement white skylight for $120. I asked if they had a smoke or another color they referred me to the vendor .
The vendor is G S Plastics 25837 Borg Road Elkhart, IN 46514 Phone: 574 262-1527. They have 2 color chioces
1. White
2. Bronze White
The cost is $60.22 + $25.00 shipping the catch is no credit card sales just send a check and upon receipt they will ship the next day. I sent the money on October 31, 2005. I received the new skylight light on November 11, 2005. I got the bronze white and it was exactly what I needed. The next day I installed the new skylight. I found that the light factor was reduced to my liking. The heat factor will have to wait until next summer. The new skylight you can see the sky and the weather above. The shower has a blind but I don't think to many people would climb on top to peer in. One added bonus is at night from outside the coach the light in the bathroom isn't as obvious as with the white skylight. Please note: many RV companies and suppliers went out of business because of the price of fuel and the ecomony in 2008. |
