US 66 ADVENTURES

US 66 existed between 1926 and 1985. The eastern terminus of route 66 was located in Chicago at the intersection of Adams St. and Michigan Ave. Route 66 passed through the states of Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. The western terminus was located in Santa Monica, California at the intersection of Santa Monica Blvd. and Ocean Ave. US 66 was 2,448 miles long at its maximum and was a victim of its success. As the cross country freeway system was born, it was replaced by I-55, I-44, I-40, I-15 and I-10. Much of the old road still exists while some sections of the highway are gone forever. This page will be a continuing saga of traveling the mother road. Join us as we will give you the insight of traveling Route 66 from an RVer's perspective.
