Its a hang out for baby boomer crowd. You'll find the unexpected here. Yes many have come from California and all over the world to find refuge in paradise on dryer side of the Island of Hawaii. Kailua- Kona has the best weather in the state with the clearest water. Its shielded from the trade winds by Mt Hualālai. I know that some people would dispute this saying Waikola and South Kohala is better. Well it may be fancier but not better. Personally I like Keauhou Bay on the south side of Kona. Its upscale not far away from the action. The South Kohala Resorts are 30 to 40 miles away unless of course your famous, weathly and what to be isolated. Kailua- Kona is the place to be.
