The
Hilton is one of many resorts on the South
Kohala coast
The
ocean here as on most of the Big Island is
not conducive for swiming at the Hilton they
have a lagoon and a fresh water pool
When
you talk about Waikola your talking about couple
places in the South Kohala district of Hawaii.
There is a planned community of modest housing
inland and then there is the high rent district
at Waikola Beach area. I have seen housing cost on the South Kohala coast to exceed 10
million dollars in this area. I can't possibly
go into detail about the entire area. I have
highlighted the Hilton because it very unusual
place and is worth a visit even if you don't
stay here. Originally it was called the Hyatt
Regency Waikola. Bob Hope performed here when
he was alive. Let's face it the names of the
hotels in this area play musical chairs. The
resort next door to the Hilton has been the
Outrigger, Sheraton, and now a Marriott under
renovation it may have been something else
before this. I only know the history
since 2001. The area is growing by leaps and
bounds. The Mauna Lani is even a higher level just to the north of here but don't count Waikoloa out. There are new places coming on line all the time.
The
King Shops with shopping and dining fit for
