This gorgeous underground wet cave was discovered in 1974 and purchased by the State of Arizona in 1988. It was first opened to the public for tours in 1999. There are two tours available. The first, and oldest, is the .5 mile tour through the Rotunda and Throne rooms available year round. The tour takes 1.5 hours to complete and costs $18.95 for adults and $9.95 for children between the ages of 7-13. Children 6 and under are free on this tour. The second tour, opened in 2003, is the Big Room Tour. This tour also is .5 miles and takes approximately one hour and forty-five minute to complete. The cost for the Big Room Tour, available from October 15th through April 15th is $22.95 for adults and $12.95 for children between the ages of 7-13. Children 6 and under are not permitted on the Big Room Tour. The caves are well lighted and accessible. There is a 60 site RV park available to make visitation easy and convenient. This is definitely a stop worth making while in southern Arizona. A restaurant is located onsite but you might want to get tickets ahead of time since tours do tend to fill up especially in summer or during holiday periods.
